Brain metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer by BRCA1/2 mutation status
Gynecologic Oncology May 24, 2019
Stasenko M, et al. - Researchers used two institutional databases and assessed clinical outcomes in BRCA-associated ovarian cancer cases with brain metastases (BM). They retrospectively reviewed charts and medical records of patients with epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancer (EOC) and BM who received treatment from 1/1/2008–7/1/2018 at a single institution. This investigation represents the largest one to date addressing this topic. The chances of developing isolated BM were more in BRCA-mutated (mBRCA) patients, which could be a factor in their long survival. The pursuit of aggressive therapy for mBRCA EOC patients with BM is supported.
