Bradykinin receptors gene expression in white adipose tissue in nondiabetic patients with coronary artery disease
Coronary Artery Disease May 09, 2018
Marketou ME, et al. - Given that kinin receptors are essential determinants of the effect of adiposity on endothelial function and cardiovascular function, researchers assessed the gene expression levels of kinin receptors in the subcutaneous white adipose tissue (sWAT) of nondiabetic patients with and without coronary artery disease (CAD). Real-time quantitative PCR was used to analyze sWAT biopsies for bradykinin receptor type 1 and 2 (BKR1, BKR2). Among patients with and without CAD, a divergence in gene expression in sWAT was found. A significant positive correlation of BKR1 gene expression levels with BMI and total cholesterol levels and a negative correlation with fasting blood glucose was demonstrated.
