Brachial pulse pressure is associated with the presence and extent of coronary artery disease in stable angina patients: A cross-sectional study

BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Mar 26, 2020

Li J, et al. - Given a link between pulse pressure (PP) and coronary artery disease (CAD), however, more attention was given to aortic PP vs to brachial PP, so, researchers undertook this cross-sectional analysis to examine the direct link between brachial PP and the presence as well as the extent of CAD among stable angina patients. They selected 1,118 consecutive patients with stable chest pain suspected of CAD. Following screening with exclusion criteria, this analysis with 654 patients was carried out. Both blood pressure measurement and selective coronary angiography were performed. Findings revealed a significant and independent link of increasing brachial PP with increased risk of multivessel coronary disease among stable angina patients. In hypertension group vs in non-hypertension one, a more pronounced link of brachial PP with CAD was observed.
