BP reduction, kidney function decline, and cardiovascular events in patients without CKD
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Nov 09, 2017
Magriço R, et al. - In this work, researchers assessed the association between mean arterial pressure reduction, kidney function decline, and cardiovascular events in patients without chronic kidney disease. In the intensive treatment group of Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT), they observed larger declines in mean arterial pressure in association with higher incidence of kidney function decline. When a larger reduction in mean arterial pressure was needed to attain the BP target, the intensive treatment seemed to be less beneficial.
