Bowel reconstruction to treat chronic diarrhea and hypoproteinemia following single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy: A single-site experience
Obesity Surgery May 23, 2019
Horsley B, et al. - Researchers examined patients who underwent single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) surgery from September 2013 to March 2018, for the occurrence and treatment of hypoproteinemia and chronic diarrhea with common channel lengthening (CCL) following surgery. Laparoscopic CCL was done in an average operating time of 56.5 ± 4.6 min. For the eight patients, the average bowel movements before laparoscopic CCL were 9.1 ± 4.7 a day and after the surgery were 2.6 ± 0.4 a day. Outcomes thus support the efficacy of CCL in treating symptomatic chronic diarrhea after SADI-S when conservative treatments have failed.
