Bony cochlear nerve canal stenosis in pediatric unilateral sensorineural hearing loss

International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Feb 06, 2018

Lim CH, et al. - Experts undertook an assessment of the frequency of the stenosis of bony cochlear nerve canal (BCNC). They also evaluated its clinical importance among pediatric patients presenting with a unilateral sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) of unknown etiology. Findings revealed that setting a diameter of 1.2 mm as a cutoff for BCNC stenosis was reasonable. Herein, BCNC stenosis was discovered to be a common cause of unilateral SNHL of unknown etiology during childhood.
