Bone density and microarchitecture in hepatitis C and HIV-coinfected postmenopausal minority women
Osteoporosis International Feb 06, 2018
Yin MT, et al. - Herein, the authors aimed to assess if the true volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) was lower in HIV+/HCV+ coinfection in postmenopausal women. Results demonstrated a significantly lower spine areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and vBMD in HIV+/HCV+ study cohort. These deficits in vBMD possibly served as contributory factors to bone fragility and excess fractures reported in HIV+/HCV+ women.
