Bone and joint complications and reduced mobility are associated with pain in children with cerebral palsy

Schmidt SM, et al. - Utilizing data from the Swedish follow-up program and national registry Cerebral Palsy Follow-Up Program, the authors carried out this retrospective cohort registry study to investigate the links between pain in the lower extremities (feet, knees, and hips) and back, and spasticity, bone/joint complications, and mobility. Three thousand two hundred fifty-six candidates with cerebral palsy (aged 2.5 to 16 years) participating in the Swedish Cerebral Palsy Follow-Up Program were involved. When controlling for sex, bone/joint complications (range of motion, windswept posture, and scoliosis) and reduced mobility were linked to pain in the lower extremities. Data reported that the R2 of the model was 0.15. In children with cerebral palsy, other factors not included in the model, considering the model's R2, are also related to pain in lower extremities.
