Body mass index, body shape, and risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: A population-based case–control study in Southern China
Cancer Medicine Feb 27, 2019
Feng R, et al. - Researchers investigated the influence of body size or shape on nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) risk and determined if this influence varies by age-specific body size indicators via collecting self-reported height, weight, and body shape at age 20 and 10 years before interview from 2448 histopathologically confirmed NPC cases and 2534 population-based controls from a population-based case–control study conducted in Southern China between 2010 and 2014. Observations revealed positive trends of increasing body mass index (BMI) with NPC risk. Despite providing some significant findings, this study yielded limited evidence for a strong association between BMI or body shape and NPC risk.
