Body fat percentage, waist circumference and obesity as risk factors for rheumatoid arthritis: A Danish cohort study
Arthritis Care & Research Aug 03, 2018
Linauskas A, et al. - Authors gauged the association between bioimpedance-derived total body fat percentage, waist circumference (WC) and Body Mass Index (BMI) and the subsequent development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Findings suggested an association of higher body fat percentage, higher waist circumference and obesity with higher risk of RA in women. As per data, no clear correlations between the body fat percentage, WC, or BMI and RA in men were seen. In women or men, they did not find any significant associations for ‘seropositive RA', possibly related to low sample size.
