Blood vessel invasion is a strong predictor of postoperative recurrence in endometrial cancer
International Journal of Gynecological Cancer Jun 08, 2018
Sato M, et al. - The predictive significance of lymphatic vessel invasion (LVI) and blood vessel invasion (BVI) on the endometrial cancer recurrence and their correlation with patterns of recurrence were investigated. Researchers performed a retrospective review of 376 patients with stage I to III endometrial cancer who underwent surgery with curative intent at their institution between 2007 and 2015. BVI, rather than LVI, was a strong predictor of postoperative recurrence in stage I to III endometrial cancer. This might be due to the predisposition of BVI to hematogenous metastases.
