Blood eosinophils may predict radiographic sinus opacification in patients with chronic rhinitis
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Mar 20, 2019
Oh SY, et al. - From January 2015 to December 2017, researchers examined 332 candidates to predict the factors for sinus opacification in chronic rhinitis cases without obvious chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). They observed a significantly higher level of total immunoglobulin E (IgE) and peripheral blood eosinophil count in subjects with sinus opacification (SO) as compared to persons with normal sinus (NS). An association of interquartile range increase (0.19 × 109/L) of the eosinophil count was recorded with SO. Hence, they concluded peripheral blood eosinophil count, an independent predictor of CRS in outpatients with chronic rhinitis.
