Bladder instillations with triamcinolone acetonide for interstitial cystitis–bladder pain syndrome: A randomized controlled trial
Obstetrics and Gynecology Apr 30, 2021
Cardenas-Trowers O, Abraham AG, Dotson T, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the usefulness of adding triamcinolone acetonide to a standard bladder instillation solution for the treatment of interstitial cystitis–bladder pain syndrome. Researchers designed a single-center, randomized, double-blind trial to compare symptom response in women with interstitial cystitis–bladder pain syndrome who had undergone six bladder instillations with triamcinolone acetonide or six instillations without. They included a total of 90 women-45 per group; 71 (79%) completed all six bladder installations between January 2019 and October 2020. This study’s findings demonstrate that the addition of triamcinolone acetonide to a standard bladder instillations solution does not improve symptoms correlated with interstitial cystitis–bladder pain syndrome.
