Black–white breast cancer incidence trends: Effects of ethnicity
Journal of the National Cancer Institute Jul 21, 2018
Lynn BCD, et al. - Experts evaluated the race- and ethnicity-specific breast cancer trends via the National Cancer Institute’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) 13 Registries Database (1992–2014). As per data, among non-Hispanic white (NHW) women, future incidence rates are expected to slowly increase, and for non-Hispanic black (NHB) women these rates are expected to slowly decrease. Therefore, an assumed worsening of the black-white mortality disparity was unlikely. Incidence rates were highest for NHW women, followed by NHB women, and then Hispanic white women (sample size for Hispanic blacks was too small to assess).
