Biomechanical comparison of 3 types of transdiscal fixation implants for fixing high-grade L5/S1 spine spondylolisthesis
The Spine Journal May 04, 2021
Kerr HL, Gee A, Fernandes RJR, et al. - This study was sought to correlate three types of transdiscal fixation biomechanically in an in vitro porcine lumbar-sacral spine model. Researchers divided 18 complete lumbar-sacral porcine into 3 repair groups, transdiscal screws (TS), Bohlman technique (BT), and a modified Bohlman technique (MBT). Outcomes were examined and compared to intact baseline measurements. They used standard quasi-static moments in all modes. Compared with BT and MBT, TS provided the lowest range of motion in all modes of loading. The data demonstrate that TS results in the most biomechanically stable construct.
