Biomechanical changes and recovery of gait function after total hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Mar 09, 2018
Bahl JS, et al. - Authors aimed to determine the change in walking gait biomechanics following total hip arthroplasty (THA) for osteoarthritis (OA) vs the pre-operative gait status. They also compared the recovery of gait after THA with healthy individuals. Compared with pre-operative levels, early improvements were demonstrated for spatiotemporal and kinematic gait patterns following THA for OA. Compared to healthy individuals, deficits in walking speed, stride length, single limb support time and sagittal plane hip ROM were still observed in THA patients at 12 months.
