Biomarker panel for early detection of endometrial cancer in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian cancer screening trial
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Jul 15, 2019
Tarney CM, et al. - Early detection biomarkers for endometrial cancer were investigated using prediagnostic serum. In this nested case-control study, researchers assessed postmenopausal women in the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian cancer screening trial (n = 78,216) and included 112 incident endometrial cancer cases and 112 controls. A mean time of 3.5 years was reported from blood draw to endometrial cancer diagnosis. Cases and controls showed 47 differentially abundant proteins. As per the analysis, postmenopausal endometrial cancer cases can be distinguished from controls using an integrated score of 6 proteins with high predictive potential taken from prediagnostic serum. Cases were distinguished from controls with an area under the curve of 0.80 via the integrated score.
