Bioavailability of house dust mite allergens in sublingual allergy tablets is highly dependent on the formulation

Ohashi-Doi K, et al. - This study assessed the importance of the sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) tablet formulation for house dust mite (HDM) major allergen bioavailability. Findings revealed that tablet formulation was the factor on which SLIT tablet allergen bioavailability depended highly. Data also highlighted that in addition to offering maximal delivery of soluble allergens, only the fast-dissolving freeze-dried tablets achieved concentrations that mirrored the nominal tablet strengths within the recommended sublingual holding time.
