Bilateral is superior to unilateral varicocelectomy in infertile males with left clinical and right subclinical varicocele: A prospective randomized controlled study

International Urology and Nephrology Dec 10, 2017

Sun XL, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of the effect of bilateral vs unilateral varicocelectomy on seminal response and spontaneous pregnancy rates in infertile male patients with left clinical and right subclinical varicocele. Findings revealed that compared to unilateral varicocelectomy, the bilateral varicocelectomy was associated with greater improvements in sperm concentration, normal sperm morphology and progressive motility and spontaneous pregnancy rate after the surgery, suggesting its superiority to unilateral varicocelectomy in infertile males with left clinical and right subclinical varicocele.
