Bilateral hip arthroscopy: Direct comparison of primary acetabular labral repair and primary acetabular labral reconstruction
Arthroscopy Nov 08, 2017
White BJ, et al. - Researchers used a self-controlled cohort study design and performed a direct comparison between primary acetabular labral repair and primary acetabular labral reconstruction. They found that treatment failure was more likely with primary labral repair vs labral reconstruction (31% vs 0%, respectively). Among hips that did not fail treatment, patient-reported outcome scores were similar between groups. Overall, it was concluded that both forms of labral-preserving treatment can afford excellent clinical outcomes but in this cohort, these were more predictably observed with primary labral reconstruction.
