Bilateral erector spinae plane block for postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
Pain Practice Sep 30, 2020
Daghmouri MA, Akremi S, Chaouch MA, et al. - Via performing this meta‐analysis, researchers sought to assess the analgesic efficacy of erector spinae plane (ESP) block, a novel regional anesthetic technique, in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. They identified a total of five randomized controlled trials comprising of 250 patients for inclusion (124 ESP block group vs 126 control group). Outcomes support the effectiveness of bilateral ultrasound‐guided ESP block in reducing opioid consumption and time to first rescue analgesic in adults undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. In addition, this technique appears a safe technique for these patients.
