Bilateral adrenalectomy in congenital adrenal hyperplasia: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism Jun 18, 2018
MacKay D, et al. - Researchers clarified the outcomes of bilateral adrenalectomy in the management of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. A systematic search of PubMed/MEDLINE and Web of Science was conducted to identify relevant reports published up to 10 January 2018. Forty-eight cases of bilateral adrenalectomy for CAH, with patients aged from 4 months to 56 years at surgery was identified. The findings demonstrated that bilateral adrenalectomy for CAH seemed to be a reasonable therapeutic option for appropriately selected patients with unsatisfactory outcomes with conventional medical therapy.
