Better completion of pediatric latent tuberculosis treatment using 4 months of rifampin in a US-based tuberculosis clinic
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal Feb 22, 2018
Gaensbauer J, et al. - This study was initiated in order to determine the efficacy of a 4-month regimen of daily rifampin (4R) for the treatment of pediatric latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). The tendency for completion of LTBI treatment was substantially greater among pediatric subjects using a 4R than with a 9-month isoniazid regimen. A rise could be noted in the efficacy of tuberculosis prevention along with a decreased demand on public health resources due to better completion rates of 4R.
