β-blockers and risk of all-cause mortality in patients with chronic heart failure and atrial fibrillation: A meta-analysis
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Jun 08, 2019
Xu T, et al. - Researchers analyzed evidence from 12 relevant studies to determine how outcomes in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are influenced by β-blockers treatment. The included articles were identified from PubMed, MEDLINE and Embase databases and were prospective studies that reported all-cause mortality in patients with CHF and AF in relation to β-blockers treatment. They noted a significantly reduced risk of all-cause mortality among patients with AF-CHF in relation to β-blockers treatment; however, this was only evident in observational studies, not in subgroup analyses of randomized, controlled trials.
