Benign and malignant odontogenic neoplasms of the jaws show a concordant non-discriminatory p63/p40 positive immunophenotype
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology Sep 09, 2018
Argyris PP, et al. - Experts studied p40 immunoreactivity in odontogenic tumors (OT) and cysts (OC), as well as the possible discriminatory properties of the combined p63/p40 immunoprofile in OT and OC. Findings indicated the presence of both ΔNp63 and TAp63 isoforms in neoplastic and developmental odontogenic lesions. Also, regarding benign and malignant OT and OC, the p63/p40 immunophenotype is non-discriminatory. Concordant p63+/p40+ immunophenotype was demonstrated by ameloblastomas, adenomatoid odontogenic tumors, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors, squamous odontogenic tumor, and primary intraosseous odontogenic carcinomas.
