Baseline lung allograft dysfunction is associated with impaired survival following double lung transplantation

The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation Mar 05, 2018

Liu J, et al. - Researchers here aimed to assess the association between baseline lung allograft dysfunction [BLAD] and survival in double lung transplant recipients. They, in addition, investigated for potential pre-transplant donor and recipient risk factors for BLAD. Cox regression revealed that BLAD was associated impaired survival compared to patients with normal baseline, and lower baseline was associated with greater risk of death in a dose-dependent fashion. Thereby suggesting that BLAD is dynamic risk state linked with impaired survival following double lung transplantation. Thus they recommended considering BLAD when physiologically phenotyping patients.
