Baseline anticholinergic burden from medications predicts incident fatal and non-fatal stroke in the EPIC-Norfolk general population
International Journal of Epidemiology Mar 07, 2018
Gamble DT, et al. - The association between anticholinergic burden (ACB) from medications and stroke in a general population was determined. To help attenuate the global burden of stroke, an incentive was offered for the cautious use of medications with anticholinergic properties. In the fully adjusted model, patients with an ACB >3 had a 59% relative risk of incident stroke and 86% relative risk of stroke mortality compared with patients in the ACB 0 category.
