Basal subtype bladder tumours demonstrate a “hot” immunophenotype
Histopathology Jul 11, 2018
Hodgson A, et al. - Researchers investigated whether there was an association between the immunohistochemical phenotype of high grade urothelial carcinoma (UC) and immune microenvironment composition. They reviewed 235 cases of high grade UC treated by cystectomy. For this analysis, clinicopathologic variables for each case were recorded as well as disease-free survival at the last follow-up was calculated. According to the findings, basal subtype high grade UC had an abundance of CD8+ T cells with increased expression of inhibitory markers, suggestive of a “hot” immunophenotype.
