American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Sep 05, 2019
Korpon JR, et al. - In this investigation involving 181 patients, researchers explored the connection between barometric pressure and the incidence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). They identified patients diagnosed with classic BPPV seen between 2011 and 2016. According to findings, barometric pressure was connected with conditions of the inner ear, although its link to BPPV pathogenesis was not studied. The observed changes in incidence may be accountable for monthly modifications in barometric pressure rather than the absolute value. A clear relation was found between barometric pressure and BPPV, which can assist clarify both the BPPV etiology and its possible relation to migraine-related circumstances. Although none as powerful as barometric pressure, other seasonal factors showed correlation.
