Balloon dilatation of the Eustachian tube in adult patients with chronic dilatory tube dysfunction: A retrospective cohort study
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Jan 11, 2018
Satmis MC, et al. - During this research, authors probed into the subjective and objective short-term results and safety of transnasal balloon dilatation of the Eustachian tube (BET) in adult patients with chronic dilatory Eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD). BET, presenting as a safe intervention, could exert a positive effect on objective and subjective indicators for chronic dilatory ETD in adult patients. Subjective positive effects were noted in less than half of the patients. A measurable positive effect was yielded on the findings of the eardrum and ETDQ-7 for certain indications. In contrast, it did not exert any impact on other patients. This success rate could be improved via cautious patient selection.
