Bacteriophage effectively kills multidrug resistant Staphylococcus aureus clinical isolates from chronic rhinosinusitis patients

Zhang G, et al. - The experts undertook this study to ascertain the effectiveness of 2 phages currently in clinical development, against antibiotic-resistant and induced antibiotic-tolerant clinical S. aureus isolates. A high (20%) incidence of multidrug resistance was found in clinical S. aureus isolated from chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients. Antibiotic resistance or tolerance did not influence phage susceptibility of those isolates.
