Azithromycin treatment in children hospitalized with asthma: A retrospective cohort study
Journal of Asthma May 12, 2019
Douglas LC, et al. - Among patients under 18 years old who were hospitalized for acute asthma exacerbations, without concurrent infection, from 2002 to 2011, researchers determined the impact of azithromycin therapy during hospitalization on length of stay (LOS) and readmission rates in this retrospective cohort study. The overall median LOS was 2.3 days and readmission for asthma was sought by 9% (480) within 90 days of discharge. Findings revealed no association of azithromycin therapy with a clinically relevant difference in hospital LOS or with readmission rates in this study population.
