Axillary ultrasound identifies residual nodal disease after chemotherapy: Results from the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group Z1071 Trial (Alliance)
American Journal of Roentgenology Feb 06, 2018
Le-Petross HT, et al. - The intent of the authors was to identify the lymph node characteristics on axillary ultrasound (US) images obtained after neoadjuvant chemotherapy that were related to residual nodal disease in patients with initial biopsy-proven node-positive breast cancer. It was inferred that the axillary US performed after neoadjuvant chemotherapy was useful for nodal response assessment. It exhibited longer short-axis diameter, longer long-axis diameter, increased cortical thickness, and absence of fatty hilum prominently linked with the residual nodal disease after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
