Awake serial intralesional steroid injections without surgery as a novel targeted treatment for idiopathic subglottic stenosis
The Laryngoscope Oct 22, 2017
Franco RA, et al. - This research evaluated the efficacy of serial intralesional steroid injections (SILSI) for the treatment of idiopathic subglottic stenosis (iSGS). An improvement could be yielded through the SILSI in the awake outpatient setting, in the airway caliber in iSGS. It appeared to be equivalent to endoscopic operating room [OR] treatment. It was noted that iSGS could be regarded as a chronic scarring/inflammatory condition, which could benefit from steroid scar-modification therapy.
