Automated plaque analysis for the prognostication of major adverse cardiac events
European Journal of Radiology Jun 05, 2019
van Assen M, et al. - For the prediction of major adverse cardiac events (MACEA), a retrospective study of 45 patients with suspected coronary artery disease was carried out and the value of an automated model-based plaque characterization tool was assessed. Minimal cap thickness, lesion length, lipid rich necrotic core volume, maximal wall area/thickness, the remodeling ratio, and the calcium volume were considered in the prognostic model as parameters. Coronary computed tomography angiography-derived plaque features and quantified morphological features of atherosclerotic plaque were evaluated using an automated model-based algorithm, which increased MACE prognostication ability significantly as that of the use of clinical risk factors alone.
