Automated diagnoses of age-related macular degeneration and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy using bi-modal deep convolutional neural networks
British Journal of Ophthalmology Jun 09, 2020
Xu Z, Wang W, Yang J, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective cross-sectional study to examine the effectiveness of a bi-modality deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) framework to categorise age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) from colour fundus images and optical coherence tomography images. The sample consisted of patients with AMD or PCV who came to Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Patients with concurrent retinal vascular diseases have been excluded. According to findings, a bi-modal DCNN for automated classification of AMD and PCV in the realm of public health is accurate and promising.
