Autologous tolerogenic dendritic cells derived from monocytes of systemic lupus erythematosus patients and healthy donors show a stable and immunosuppressive phenotype

Immunology Aug 16, 2017

Obreque J, et al. – This study aspired to generate and characterize tolerogenic dendritic cells (tolDCs) to restore tolerance to apoptotic cells (ApoCells). It was reported that ApoCells–loaded tolDCs generated from systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) monocytes had a stable immature/tolerogenic phenotype. It could modulate CD4+ T–cell activation. In view of these properties, experts highlighted its suitability for an antigen–specific immunotherapy for SLE.
