Autologous impaction bone grafting for bone defects of the medial tibia plateau during primary total knee arthroplasty: Propensity score matched analysis with a minimum of 7-year follow-up
Journal of Arthroplasty Mar 05, 2018
Sohn JM, et al. - Experts sought to describe a novel technique for appropriate treatment of bone defects in medial tibial plateau grafted with autologous resected bone. They also drew a comparison between the clinical outcomes, radiographic results, and survivorship of these knees and those of standard total knee arthroplasty (TKA) without bone defect. Desirable results based on survival rate and clinical outcome were yielded by the technique of management of medial tibial bone defect using autologous bone graft. Hence, for medial tibial defects during primary TKA, autologous impaction bone grafting was noted to be a safe and effective option.
