Autologous fat tissue grafting improves pulmonary healing after laser metastasectomy
European Journal of Surgical Oncology Oct 20, 2017
Furia S, et al. - This prospective cohort observational study aimed at evaluating the feasibility and safety of autologous fat tissue (AFT) in the repair of surgically injured lung surface. Findings established the feasibility and safety of AFT pulmonary grafting after laser metastasectomy. By reducing the incidence and severity of prolonged alveolar air leakage (PAAL), AFT graft improved pulmonary healing. In addition, researchers identified no evidence suggesting tumor promotion in the metastatic setting, with a similar overall survival at 4 years.
