Autologous fat graft in foot calcaneal postsurgical chronic ulcer
Injury Sep 22, 2019
Maione L, et al. - Researchers evaluated the efficacy of the autologous fat graft in treating Achilles tendon area wounds. The fat graft was used to treat a total of 7 patients with postsurgical painful chronic ulcer of the calcaneal area. All cases treated exhibited wound rehepitelization within one month and resolution of pain related to the wound following fat grafting. Observations support the therapeutic efficacy of this surgical approach that relies on biological properties of adipose tissue; those properties are clear in both procedures of chronic ulcer’s rehepitelization stimulation and perilesional tissue’s enhancement obtaining pain control. With a low rate of complication, they identified this procedure as safe.
