Autoantibody profile in children with Kawasaki disease on long-term follow-up: A prospective study from North India
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Sep 07, 2018
Basha A, et al. - Experts sought to study the profile of autoantibodies on the long-term follow-up of children with Kawasaki disease (KD). Results demonstrated the likelihood of these autoantibodies to develop in children with KD during the acute stage. These autoantibodies may persist for many years. They did not note any concrete evidence to suggest an increased risk of developing an autoimmune disease in the future. Nonetheless, for the development of autoimmune manifestations, prolonged surveillance is somewhat justified.
