Autoantibodies reactive to PEP08 are clinically related with morbidity and severity of interstitial lung disease in connective tissue diseases
European Journal of Immunology Jul 13, 2018
Okumura M, et al. - Given a correlation has been shown between the generation of anti-Ro52 autoantibodies (Ro52-autoAbs) and the clinical morbidity and severity of connective tissue disease (CTD) with interstitial lung disease (ILD) in studies using patient sera, researchers assessed the association of serum levels of Ro52-autoAbs that were reactive to PEP08 peptide and the clinical morbidity and severity of ILD by using a single B-cell-manipulating technology and obtaining twelve different monoclonal Ro52-autoAbs (mRo52-autoAbs) from the selected four patients suffering from severe ILD with a high titer of Ro52-autoAbs in their sera. In statistical analysis, they found a correlation between the production of PEP08-reactive Ro52-autoAbs and the morbidity and severity of ILD in CTD and therefore, it is beneficial to evaluate the production of PEP08-reactive Ro52-autoAbs in autoimmune diseases in order to predict the clinical morbidity of ILD.
