Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Jun 09, 2021
Tas F, et al. - A retrospective analysis of data of 53 primary melanomas originating in auricular (n=25) and periauricular regions (n=28) was conducted to determine the clinical characteristics of the auricular melanomas and to contrast them with periauricular skin melanomas. Similar demographic, histopathological and clinical features were evident in auricular and periauricular melanomas. For all melanomas, the 5-year overall survival rate was estimated to be 46.9%; no statistical significance was observed between two groups, 56.1% and 37.4% for auricular and periauricalar melanomas, respectively. Findings revealed similar clinicopathological characteristics as well as outcomes between auricular melanomas and periauricular melanomas.
