Audiological outcomes and map characteristics in children with perimodiolar and slim straight array cochlear implants in opposite ears
Otology & Neurotology Oct 04, 2017
Park LR, et al. - The variations in outcomes and map characteristics were determined as a part of this research, in pediatric bilateral cochlear implants with modiolar conforming and lateral wall arrays in opposite ears. The findings illustrated poorer speech perception with the lateral wall device alone. In contrast, the bilateral speech perception was good. This could not be elucidated with just the device, due to variations in preoperative candidacy time serving as a vital factor. Considerably higher electrical compound action potential (ECAP) thresholds were detected for lateral wall electrodes. Nevertheless, this did not translate into higher psychophysical measurements.
