Audiological disturbances in patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome
Lupus Mar 31, 2020
Erez D, Abarbuch E, Natour A, et al. - In this investigation involving 17 patients (aged 20–80 years), researchers sought to explore a possible connection between hearing disorders and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Patients diagnosed with primary APS were assessed for evidence of hearing disorders. Of the 17 patients with APS, 10 (age groups 20–29 and 50–59) had significantly decreased hearing levels in all or part of the tested frequencies vs standard levels. Three patients (age group 60–69) had better hearing levels at low frequencies than standard hearing levels. Such results confirm the existence of hearing disorders in primary APS.
