Attributable risk and time course of colistin-associated acute kidney injury
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Mar 30, 2018
Miano TA, et al. - The attributable risk and timing of colistin-associated nephrotoxicity onset were investigated by comparing colistin-exposed patients with a matched control group given other broad spectrum antibiotics. Development of substantial excess AKI within the first 72 hours of treatment was noted in relation to colistin exposure. According to baseline hemoglobin concentration, a variance in colistin’s toxicity was noted. In both groups, hospital mortality in patients who experienced AKI was lower if kidney function returned to baseline during hospitalization.
