Attitudes towards precision treatment of smoking in the Southern Community Cohort Study
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Jun 11, 2019
Senft N, et al. - Among participants from Southern Community Cohort Study (mainly including African American, low-income adults), researchers surveyed smokers to know about their attitudes towards precision smoking treatment, from undergoing tests to acting on results. Favorable attitudes towards precision smoking treatment were shown by most of the respondents among disproportionately-burdened community smokers. Higher income and education were reported by smokers holding favorable generalized attitudes. The range for predicted chances of favorable generalized attitudes was from 63% to 75% across motivation levels. Additional intervention may be beneficial for subjects with lower motivation and confidence to quit.
