Hangelbroek RWJ, et al. - In older adults, the impact of resistance exercise training on systemic chronic low-grade inflammation, as well as, the link between systemic chronic low-grade inflammation and the adaptive response to exercise training was determined. Increased levels of plasma cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8) were suggested to be related to lower strength gains during resistance exercise training.
