Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and impulsivity in female patients with fibromyalgia

Yilmaz E, et al. - Researchers ascertained the relationship between fibromyalgia and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as well as the relevance of impulsivity dimension. Participants in the study were 78 females with fibromyalgia who applied to a physical medicine and rehabilitation polyclinic in Ceyhan State Hospital and 54 healthy females. In female fibromyalgia patients, both adult and childhood ADHD were quite common. A relationship between fibromyalgia and impulsivity was noted. Results of this study suggested that certain subtypes of fibromyalgia, as well as ADHD, could share common etiological pathways.
