Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and functional defecation disorders in children
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Jan 29, 2018
Kuizenga-Wessel S, et al. - The prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) was assessed in children presenting with functional defecation disorders (FDDs). Furthermore, the authors evaluated the prevalence of FDDs in children with ADHD. ADHD was observed in around 10.3% of children with FDDs and 22.7% of children with a known diagnosis of ADHD fulfilled the Rome III criteria for an FDD. This observation suggested that screening for behavioral disorders and FDDs ought to be incorporated into the diagnostic workup of these groups of children.
